Extraordinary Machine (Live at Richmond, Virginia) - Fiona Apple and Nickel Creek
I don’t know what to say about this except I’ve seen this at least 5 times and I’m still counting.
Update after 7th viewing: I love everything about this performance — Fiona’s facial expressions, her offbeat but oh-so-on-the-mark body language, the satisfied way in which her bassist ended off the song’s last note and of course The Song Itself.
It could have been a song I wrote about myself had I her mastery of words and music. Neither fortunately nor unfortunately, I don’t. I’m satisfied enough to have her write it and for me to lap up all its goodness.
This song rings true for me right to the very last letter, even the “I am the baby of the family” part. Fiona, how did you know?
I still only travel by foot and by foot, it’s a slow climb,
But I’m good at being uncomfortable, so
I can’t stop changing all the time
Music's a big part of my life.
This place contains my posts on music on various sites from 2006 till today.
I'll be posting here directly from now onwards.
